Southern Living Idea House: A Storied Interior Near Charlottesville
Styles by Sharon’s most rewarding project to-date, the Southern Living Idea House, was completed 2025. We provided all the window treatments and some of the bedding for this project in Keswick, Virginia, just outside of Charlottesville.
Charlotte Moss was the designer for the whole house, and it was a privilege working with her and her design team. They were so talented, it was an amazing experience to see them visualize an imaginary family and translate their needs into a whole house design with stunning fabrics and unique window treatments.
“When my clients or designers ask for my input, my first goal is to find out what the client truly needs and what solves their problem the most effectively, even though they may not know. I would say my philosophy is function first, with classic elegance, then beauty at the window without taking emphasis away from the rest of the room. When I meet with a client, we rarely talk about what I have done for others. The focus is on what their needs or problems are, and how we can solve them by letting in light, blocking light, and enhancing the room with window treatments that operate easily.”
As a soft furnishings and window treatment workroom, we love the growing trend towards motorization. We also appreciate how the designer we partner with are creating and using innovative valances; valances are some of our favorite pieces to fabricate. We are also celebrating the return of the cafe curtain, and have seen a huge growth in their popularity over the last year. The Southern Living Idea House embodies all of these elements, and we are thrilled to showcase it.
This project house was on display to the public from August through December 2025, and featured in the Sept. 2025 issue of Southern Living Magazine.
